Dive / Sunset Cruise Report
I try to update every day, but if it is more than 24 hours old, do
not rely on it, just call for updated report.
We
look at upcoming weather to give basic recommendations here. Please

This cam is inshore at Bahia Honda Bridge
and visibility is not typical of what is on the reef.
When it comes to sea conditions, many people make the
mistake of comparing a dive charter to a fishing charter.
The heavy gear and fact that you have to enter and exit the
boat from the water make sea conditions even more important to
carefully consider before taking a dive trip.
This page offers general sea state observations. Of course
on the ocean anything can happen at any time. Your Captain
should be watching for changes in the weather in all
forecasted conditions. A good Captain will give realistic
recommendations and gladly call off a trip in questionable
or, of course, dangerous conditions.
Conditions the days before, and wind direction can greatly
impact the actual sea conditions.
5-10 Knot Winds - Very calm seas are generally flat.
Perfect
day
10 Knot winds - Calm seas and generally flat or 1-2 foot
seas.
Very good day.
10-15 knot winds - Can be from very nice to rough.
15 knot winds - Rough to very rough.
Only experienced divers
should go out in these conditions.
15-20 knot winds - Almost never recommended and generally
considered unsafe.
Unfortunately some dive shops will take you out on almost
any day, regardless of the weather.
In the Keys we are blessed with great weather and fair seas, most of
the time. At Endless Summer, we do not
believe that diving is a sport to prove how tough you are. Almost
all dive accidents are caused by diver error.
You should always do your best to dive in the best possible
conditions.
Our best dive season is summer
but winter is very nice as well.
Winter water temps only fall to the low 70's but it is
windy more
often.
